Located just 50 miles off the coast of Miami, Fla., this hidden gem has long been a favorite weekend escape for anglers, beach lovers, and adventure seekers. But over the last few years, major infrastructure shifts have turned this sleepy island paradise into an easily accessible hotspot.
In February, American Airlines launched direct U.S. nonstop service to Bimini from Miami International Airport, making the island more accessible than ever. Meanwhile, the Resorts World Bimini Cruise Port—which began welcoming major cruise lines in 2021—brings thousands of eager travelers to the island’s shores weekly, courtesy of lines like Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line.
During my recent five-day cruise aboard Carnival Cruise Line to The Bahamas, I was excited once again to experience the unique blend of tropical serenity and high-stakes casino excitement. Crystal-clear blue ocean water surrounds the island, creating a stunning backdrop whether you are lounging on a pristine stretch of Bimini Beach or heading indoors to try your luck at the casino tables.
My true destination on Bimini? The sleek Resorts World Bimini casino, where I had the unique opportunity to tour the property and sit down for an insider chat with Casino Manager Robert McDonal.
The Island Vibe Meets Casino Energy
When most people picture a Caribbean vacation, they imagine falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves, sipping rum punch under a palm tree, and wearing flip-flops from dawn until dusk. While Bimini certainly delivers on all those tropical fronts, it also offers a surprisingly vibrant nightlife and gaming scene.
Stepping into the resort, the contrast between the laid-back island atmosphere and the cool, air-conditioned buzz of the gaming floor is striking. I spent some time walking the property, taking in the energy of the visitors, all eager to test their luck on a getaway to The Bahamas.
Catching up with Casino Manager Robert McDonal gave me a fascinating look behind the scenes of running a gaming operation in paradise.
When asked how things are going, McDonal gave an honest and upbeat assessment of the property’s momentum. Business is good, he noted, though it can always be better. He pointed out that while spring break in March is undeniably massive, July stands out as one of their absolute busiest months. The property manages to keep a steady pulse from the official start of summer over Memorial Day in May right through the peak vacation weeks, experiencing only brief lulls before the summer rush hits like a storm. Looking at the weekly rhythm, McDonal shared that Thursdays and Fridays naturally take the lead as the busiest nights of the week for the gaming floor.
Inside the Resorts World Bimini Casino Floor
For a boutique island resort, the casino punches above its weight class while maintaining an intimate, approachable vibe. The layout is easy to navigate, ensuring players never feel overwhelmed, yet it offers enough variety to keep veteran gamblers entertained for hours.

During my visit in April 2025, I noticed something interesting in the high-limit room: a single-zero roulette table. However, players looking for that specific layout today will be out of luck, as the property has since transitioned exclusively to double-zero roulette.
To understand why, it helps to look at the math.
